Vincenzo D'Onofrio, a repeat offender and known as "O' Mangiavatt", will not be subjected to the measure of the workhouse and will remain at liberty. The decision was made by the Supervisory Magistrate of Avellino, who accepted the arguments presented by the lawyer Vittorio Fucci, rejecting the request made against the 56-year-old caretaker of the Arpaia cemetery, in the Benevento area.
D'Onofrio, who according to the District Anti-Mafia Directorate was linked to the Pagnozzi clan, is a figure known to the judicial chronicles for numerous criminal proceedings, in which he was often acquitted thanks to Fucci's defense. Among the most notable cases:
Arrest for alleged administrative irregularities in Arpaia, including an illicit hiring at the Municipality and episodes of extortion at the local cemetery. In this case, D'Onofrio was fully acquitted.
The charges of extortion aggravated by the mafia method in the areas of Airola and Sannio, in collaboration with Caliendo Clemente, another criminal from San Martino Valle Caudina. Also in this case, he was acquitted of the mafia aggravation.
The 2018 “Ponte di Ferro” operation, in which the DDA reconstructed the conflicts between the Massaro and Pagnozzi clans for control of the territory. D'Onofrio, involved in the investigation, was again fully acquitted.
Despite the request to apply the measure of the workhouse, comparable to a form of detention, the Magistrate has ruled that D'Onofrio will not face such a restriction. However, the 56-year-old remains involved in several pending criminal proceedings.

It's strange how certain decisions are made, especially in complex cases like this. I don't understand how a repeat offender can remain free, it makes me think about the laws and the legal system.
