Arzano. Danger to public safety: the consortium between the Municipalities of Casoria, Arzano and Casavatore begins the process of revocation of the cemetery concession for the Archconfraternities called “Santa Maria del Buon Consiglio” and “Santa Maria della Pietà” located inside the cemetery.
A real storm that is nothing but the epilogue of decades of abandonment and lack of measures to protect the safety and decorum of the Holy Place. The measure was announced by the President of the Council, Eng. Luigi Pappadia (in the photo).
“The consortium board has initiated within the consortium, in agreement with director Terracciano, a series of measures aimed not only at restoring legality but also at putting an end to glaring and evident critical issues that date back to over 30 years ago. Soon – Pappadia specifies – there will be further strong actions aimed at giving the consortium back its rightful decision-making and control role, which is often forgotten”.
The interim Director of the Consortium, Sabato Terracciano, in agreement with the board of directors and the President, given the state of dilapidation of the structures and the lack of measures to restore the functionality of the two buildings containing approximately 2000 burial niches, which were found to be in a state of poor maintenance, dilapidation and evident neglect such as to create a danger to public safety and to give a very bad image of the place in which instead the sense of care and order should prevail.
“The consortium – writes manager Terracciano in the document – in order to ensure the decorum of the Consortium Cemetery and given the fruitless search by means of formal notices to proceed immediately to remove the evident critical issues and, after 30 days from the notification of the communication.
In the absence of initiative or interest on the part of the concessionaires through recovery and conservative restoration interventions at their own expense, also considering the results of the technical appraisals carried out by the Consortium which certified the state of poor maintenance and neglect, the institution will proceed pursuant to art. 84 of the current Mortuary Police Regulations and art. 63 of Presidential Decree no. 285/1990, to declare the forfeiture of the cemetery concession of the “Confraternita di Santa Maria della Pietà e del Buon Consiglio”, arranging the necessary documents for the acquisition of the buildings to the assets of the Institution, as also provided for by the 2nd paragraph of art. 78 of the current Mortuary Police Regulations”.
The provision was also transmitted to the Prefecture of Naples, to the Municipal Police Command of Arzano (territory on which the Consortium Cemetery stands) for the relevant procedures and to verify compliance with the provisions.
