Stabilization is closer for the 64 workers of the hydraulic-forestry sector of Caserta, after the unions signed the agreement with the Province of Caserta that provides for the possibility of exceeding 180 days per year, which represent the contractual requirement that allows workers to ask for stabilization from the administration to which they belong.
The instrument for proceeding with this transition was provided by the recent modification of the Campania Region law 11 of 1996, which abolishes the block on turnover in the hydraulic-forestry sector. “The agreement with the Province of Caserta – underlines Tammaro Della Corte, general secretary of Flai-Cgil of Caserta – it is a great result, which allows us to restore a minimum of dignity to the historic forestry workers and to a sector of vital importance for the function of hydraulic protection of the territories.
The agreement closes a tight cycle of meetings and discussions, sometimes even harsh, that have always put the interests of the historical workers at the center. Now the hope is that during the first weeks of the new year, a definitive end to precariousness in forestry can be written, and we are already working to make this happen”.
Emilio Forte, territorial secretary of Flai-Cgil with responsibility for forestry, explains that "exceeding the 180 working days is only a first step towards normalizing the long-standing dispute of workers in the sector, who have been precarious for over fifteen years. This union organization has worked hard to achieve this result, which in compliance with the national collective labor agreement, will make workers masters of their own future."
“I would like to point out that also at the Monte Maggiore mountain community we have achieved the same result for around 80 workers, for a total therefore, including those of the Province, of around 150 forest workers who are approaching the end of precariousness – he concludes –
For us, however, it is an incomplete satisfaction, given the failure of the negotiations with the Comunità Montana Monte Santa Croce di Roccamonfina, where we were not able to make the top management of the organization understand the importance of our theses on the subject".
