Qualiano: public transport at the center of concerns

For weeks, commuters and citizens of Qualiano have been facing increasing difficulties in local public transport, with disruptions that complicate daily travel to Naples and the surrounding municipalities.

Mayor Raffaele De Leonardis noted that, despite a formal request to the regional councilor for transport and the Directorate General for Mobility dated July 27, no meeting has yet been scheduled to discuss the issues. The mayor emphasized that the critical issues are exacerbated by the temporary closure of stations on Metro Line 1 and structural problems on the EAV railway line, as well as the suspension of the Villa Literno – Campi Flegrei section operated by RFI.

These factors create isolation that undermines the local administration's efforts to improve transport links, such as the recent launch of a direct service to the Naples hospital area. City Councilor Tommaso Picascia has suggested possible temporary solutions, such as the implementation of shuttles or the expansion of existing bus lines, which are already insufficient to meet demand. Meanwhile, City Councilor Antonio Sgariglia reports the daily complaints of workers, students, and residents, further exasperated by the intense heat.

Mayor De Leonardis concluded by noting that quality of life is also measured by the ability to guarantee the right to mobility, a priority that is still far from being achieved in Qualiano. The arrival of the regional transport councilor, scheduled for September 9th for a meeting on the local transportation system, now appears to be a crucial moment to address the community's concerns.
