Tragedy in Calitri: She tries to leave him and he starts beating her with a hammer: arrested after a night on the run

Yet another rejected "no," followed by a blind outburst of violence within the confines of her own home. Another story of obsession and terror is bloodying Irpinia, where a 28-year-old Tunisian woman was brutally attacked by her ex-partner late yesterday evening.

The tragedy occurred in Calitri. The young woman had decided to end the relationship, a decision her compatriot, the same age, never quite accepted. The man managed to break into the 28-year-old's home and, at the height of an argument, repeatedly struck her on the head with a hammer. The victim's desperate screams shattered the silence of the neighborhood, prompting residents to immediately call 112.

As the attacker quickly fled on foot in an attempt to disappear, emergency services responded. Given the young woman's condition, paramedics ordered her emergency transport by air ambulance to the San Carlo Hospital in Potenza. The prognosis remains guarded due to the severe head injuries, but fortunately, the woman's life is not in danger.

The manhunt ended a few hours later. Carabinieri from the Investigative Unit of the Avellino Provincial Command intercepted the 28-year-old in Lioni, just ten kilometers from the scene of the attack. Restrained by officers, the fugitive was apprehended and taken to the police station.
