Crotone. A long round of applause for the brother of a 'Nrangheta boss during the religious celebration for his son's confirmation. The episode, reported by colleagues at Il Quotidiano del Sud, occurred in Casabona in the province of Crotone. The man, currently detained, had obtained permission to participate in the religious function held in the cathedral of San Nicola Vescovo. The Catanzaro DDA recently requested a six-year and six-month prison sentence for mafia association for the man in the Stige abbreviated trial. The parish priest, Don Giovanni Napolitano, gave a series of warnings to the prisoner before the function, who respected them. When he left the church before the end of the function, without the man having said or done anything, a round of applause was raised in greeting. The parish priest condemned the episode, but another round of applause was raised when he left the church. The parish priest then decided – Quotidiano del sud reports – to report the episode to the president of the parliamentary anti-mafia commission Nicola Morra, to the provincial representative of Libera Antonio Tata and to other authorities, including the commissioner who manages the municipality of Casabona, dissolved due to mafia infiltration.
