Tense moments erupted yesterday afternoon, around 6:30 PM, on Corso Vittorio Emanuele, near Oviesse. A 32-year-old homeless woman from Cava, in a state of mental and physical impairment, presumably from excessive alcohol, robbed two 12-year-old boys, stripping them of their cell phones and then grabbing them, even elbowing one of them. The woman then ran toward the station, but fortunately, the incident was noticed by Marco Porpora, Assistant Chief of the Campania State Police Crime Prevention Unit, who is off duty. The 37-year-old officer, in plainclothes, immediately subdued the woman, who resisted, causing bruises that will heal in 15 days, as later reported by Ruggi Hospital in Salerno.
Another off-duty police officer and the reception manager of Oviesse also intervened: a passerby, therefore, alerted 112 and a patrol of the Carabinieri arrived on the scene. The woman was arrested on charges of improper robbery and resisting and injuring a public official. She was finally taken to the Fuorni prison.
