Teatro Ridotto: symbolic opening on April 26th.
“We will start again in September, also recovering the three dates on stand by from 2020”, announces the artistic director Tortora
A giugno l’inaugurazione a Capezzano di un nuovo spazio culturale rimesso a nuovo durante questo lungo anno di pandemia
Salerno, April 22, 2021 The possible reopening in the yellow zone on April 26 will only be symbolic for the Reduced Theatre. A year and more after the closure caused by the lockdown, the doors of the temple of comedy in Salerno will open exclusively to return to breathe the air of audiences and entertainment. No last-minute programming in the lineup: the hot months ahead certainly do not allow for a restart.
“But it’s still a good sign,” says artistic director Gianluca Tortora, who has decided to take only the good from the pandemic. “This long period of health emergency has taught us a lot, but one thing is certain: technology, digital, can only help the sector in terms of organization, ticketing, booking, but it can never mix with the dust of the stage. I can’t wait to return to the theater as it was before, an emotional moment marked not only by the performance of the guest on stage but by all those rituals that precede it, like the wait and the shouting of the audience that becomes silence and then applause.”
The Teatro Ridotto will be back to normal with a new season no earlier than September. The program will feature not only a carnet of new protagonists but also the three shows on stand by from 2020: Peppe Iodice, Simone Schettino and the Compagnia Le Ombre.
Before starting again in via Grimaldi, in June there will be the presentation of a new space. Gianluca and Valentina Tortora, together with Piermarco and Rolando Fiore announce the birth of a new theater set up during this period. The structure takes shape in Capezzano and will offer both indoor and outdoor shows. “In February, after winning a tender, we began the renovation work and have continued for all this time” explains the artistic director. The desire to return to the theater is therefore twofold and not even Covid has managed to slow down the enthusiasm of this young team of artists who, with their bare hands, have worked strenuously to set up a new place of culture accessible to all. “Rebirth from the rubble of this period that has brought us to our knees is possible, or at least we hope so”. concludes Tortora.
