The bandit who was hit and killed while fleeing on foot on the highway after robbing the Alfaterna service station in Nocera Superiore along the Naples-Salerno highway has been identified.
He is a 69-year-old criminal originally from Pagani. His accomplice, a 47-year-old from Nocera Inferiore, was later stopped by the police.
The two men, one of whom was armed with a knife, carried out the robbery in the bar at the 'Alfaterna' service station along theSalerno-Naples highway and then fled on foot, crossing the road. But while crossing from one lane to the other, one of the two - the 69-year-old from Pagani - was hit by a passing vehicle and died. It happened late yesterday evening on the Salerno stretch of the A3 near Nocera Superiore.

Today his accomplice was tracked down by the police and arrested. According to the reconstruction by the investigators, two robberies were committed, the first against the employees of the restaurant business of the bus station and the second against a customer. Immediately after the first robbery, the two attempted to escape on board their car, but due to a mechanical problem, they had to abandon the vehicle.
From there the idea of crossing the highway on foot, trying to escape by reaching the service area on the opposite lane. While crossing, after climbing over the guardrail, one was hit. The man, originally from Pagani, had no escape. His accomplice continued to flee and, according to the investigation, once he reached the service area he committed another robbery, this time to the detriment of the shopkeeper, managing to escape on foot through the highway fence towards the city of Nocera.
Today the police carried out a judicial police arrest against him, he is a 47-year-old originally from Nocera. After an investigative work, the searches of the agents of the Nocera police station had concentrated on Pagani and Angri, managing to trace the hotel where the fleeing robber had taken refuge to spend the night.
