53% of young people in the Asl Na 3 Sud area are dependent on the internet. An alarming figure to which Asl Napoli 3 Sud, “Cooperativa Primavera” - the lead body - responds, Fanelli Foundation, the Municipalities of Castellammare di Stabia and Sant'Antonio Abate, in partnership, in the project "Dico a te", dedicated to social media addictions, through an app that young people can keep on their cell phones to ask for help, ask questions and get advice.
The plan, financed by the "Con il Sud" Foundation, was presented in a press conference by the director of theAsl, Gaetano D'Onofrio, the project coordinator Dr. Carolina Esposito and the representatives of the partner municipalities. The thirty-month intervention is aimed at young people aged 13 to 24 and also includes digital workshops and a consultancy desk.
A website and a blog will allow constant information on web issues, including risks and opportunities, aimed at students, teachers and schools. A highly qualified helpdesk will take care of those kids whose problems are such that they require a diagnosis and treatment.
Dr. Carolina Esposito, coordinator of the project, described the increasingly widespread social isolation of young people: "Young people who lock themselves in a room and don't want to go out. These are symptoms that are aggravated by the Covid emergency and so having the network as the only contact with the outside increases the risks."
Health director D'Onofrio shares the concern: “We are witnessing an increasingly widespread phenomenon.” In fact, during the press conference it was said that of the 53 percent already dependent on the network in the territory of the ASL Napoli 3 Sud, 23% make an openly risky use of it.
