La “sad legal affair” which involved the Savoy, Torre Annunziata football club found to be the victim of extortion by the Gionta Camorra Clan according to what emerged from an investigation by the Naples DDA, it is “a wound that is tearing me apart.”
Thus Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy, who intervenes in the matter with a note in which he announces that he has promoted "a committee" capable of “restore dignity to that symbol and its history”. The Prince of Savoy explains that he has “having learned from the newspapers of the sad judicial affair involving Savoia in Annunziata Tower. It is not just a humiliation for a team that has also played at the highest levels of football and has the oldest history in central and southern Italy.
And it is not only an insult to the many fans who have always supported, even in difficult moments, with passion and love the football in Torre Annunziata. Allow me to confess – adds – which is a wound that is tearing me apart and is also deeply touching my sensitivity.
That group of heroic industrialists from mills and pasta factories who wanted to found the white-and-blue club in 1908 also decided to entrust the team with my family's historic coat of arms. Seeing that same coat of arms associated with the infamous Camorra brand is a cause for great anxiety and dismay. I therefore feel the duty to make a contribution to a moral redemption that lifts the club and its fans from the clouds that have gathered over football in Torre Annunziata".
For these reasons, announces Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy, “I have promoted a committee that will pull the strings of a new entrepreneurial project capable of giving impetus to a new human and football adventure and above all of restoring dignity to that symbol and its history.
I clarify that this is not a funding committee, but only personalities who will have the task of supporting this project. I thank Dr. Nazario Matachione, Eng. Roberto Passariello, and Dr. Marco Limoncelli for accepting my invitation to be part of this committee. Dr. Matachione is well known for his entrepreneurial skills and has remained in the hearts of the fans for all that he has given during the period of his management.
Despite some initial hesitation and doubts, he finally decided to stay close to me to give me exclusively technical comfort thanks to the experience gained in the sector. Eng. Passariello is an expert in international certifications for consumer protection and a promoter of the fight against doping and clean sport. Dr. Limocelli is a well-known exponent of the banking and financial world.
We finally involved the lawyer Elio D'Aquino so that he can contribute to creating a group of institutional personalities of the territory suitable to guarantee that this project is born with maximum transparency and legality and keeps away the dark shadows of the Camorra and crime. The future we choose we must build in the present. In the last few weeks, by order of the DDA, Napoli, 4 people were arrested in Torre Annunziata for extortion at Savoia Calcio and for interference within the club by the clan of camorra of the Gionta family who, in addition to demanding protection money from the club presidents, also imposed players linked to affiliates.
