Benevento, at the De La Salle Institute, police, families and students discuss cyberbullying. During the meeting with the Postal Police experts, online grooming, sexting, self-harm or suicide, and gender violence were also discussed.
An information meeting was held last November 15th, in the Madonna delle Grazie classroom of the Institute, between the Postal Police of the Benevento Department, the parents of the students and their teachers. The meeting, strongly desired by the Institute that for several years has chosen to explore some of the most urgent issues in the educational field, was a valid and concrete opportunity to discuss the issues of bullying and cyberbullying, which increasingly concern the school world and that of minors in general. At the center of the debate were placed above all the risks that the youngest run, but not only, with respect to an improper or unaware use of the Internet and social networks increasingly used by the youngest: online grooming, sexting, self-harm or suicide, gender violence.
The data that emerged during the meeting, in fact, demonstrated how the world of social media is changing in the demand for ever greater interaction, greatly increasing the risks that an unaware use could turn into a dangerous addiction.
The representatives of the Police force, especially committed to fighting postal fraud and cyber crimes, also proposed some tools to protect the family and the little ones, aimed at a more correct regulation of web content, but it was reiterated several times how essential the concrete and prompt collaboration between all the educational actors remains and how this synergy can prove to be decisive for the purposes of a profitable growth.
“We must be able to make people understand that the Internet is a tool – was reiterated by Dr. Francesco Visalli, Deputy Inspector of the Postal and Communications Police – and as such it is sometimes appropriate to disconnect it to observe the world from within.”
