The real murderers of innocent Gelsimina Verde discovered after 19 years.
The State Police, on behalf of the local DDA, has in fact executed an order for the application of the precautionary measure of custody in prison issued by the office of the Judge for preliminary investigations of the Court of Naples against Luigi De Lucia e Pasquale Rinaldi, Alias “Oh Viking”, seriously accused of the murder of Gelsomina Verde, with the aggravating circumstance of premeditation and mafia method as it was committed with the aim of benefiting the organisation Camorra By Lauro
The murder of Gelsomina Verde, which took place on 21 November 2004, was committed during the well-known feud of 2004-2005 between the Di Lauro clan and the Amato-Pagano secessionists, which affected the city districts of Secondigliano and Scampia and the municipalities of Melito, Mugnano, Casavatore and Arzano.
The murder had a major impact on public opinion both for the brutal manner of execution, as the victim was fatally hit by gunshots to the head and then burned inside a car, and for Gelsomina Verde's lack of involvement in criminal circles. The girl was killed because she was sentimentally linked to Gennaro Notturno alias “or Saracen”, a leading exponent of the “splitters”.
They have already been convicted for the same episode Peter Esposito, who had led the young woman to the meeting with his assassins, and Ugo De Lucia, the creator and participant in the material execution of the ambush as head of one of the fire groups active during the feud on behalf of the Di Lauro family.
The investigations of the Naples Flying Squad, restarted by this Office in 2020, thanks to the statements made by some collaborators of justice, have allowed us to acquire evidence of guilt against Luigi De Lucia and Pasquale Rinaldi as those who kidnapped and murdered the victim.
In light of the investigative evidence gathered that confirmed the criminal conduct of the suspects, the GIP of the Court of Naples, at the request of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Naples, issued the restrictive measure executed today.
Pasquale Rinaldi was traced at his home in Castelvolturno; while De Lucia was arrested in Massa Carrara, where he was already under house arrest for other reasons.
