On the morning of June 27, two employees of a commercial establishment went to the San Giovanni Police Station.Barra to report having been the victim of extortion.
In particular, they said that, shortly before, while they were working their shift, a man had asked for a pack of cigarettes, demanding not to pay for it because he knew the owner of the business, and when they refused, he took out a gun and placed it on the counter; therefore, the two had handed him the pack.
Yesterday afternoon, the officers of the San Giovanni-Barra Police Station, thanks to the descriptions provided and the viewing of the images from the video surveillance system of the commercial establishment, tracked down the alleged perpetrator of the crime at his home.
At the sight of them, he attempted to escape through a window, throwing away a small bag, but was stopped by the police who found 16 “GFL 38 special” cartridges in the bag.
The employees subsequently went back to the police station and, after having looked at a photo album depicting the effigies of some individuals, they found a correspondence with the features of the alleged perpetrator of the crime.
A 44-year-old Neapolitan with a criminal record has been placed under police arrest as he is seriously suspected of the crime of extortion.
