A fire broke out in the late morning on the mountainous relief near Casertavecchia, a medieval village in Caserta.
The flames involve an area of about 40 hectares. On site are operating personnel of the Fire Brigade, the Carabinieri of the Forestry Stations of Formicola and Caserta and the local civil protection.
The military of the Arma, still engaged in directing vehicular traffic to safe areas on the hillside, have already started investigations to identify the arsonist. At the moment there are no injuries reported.
The fire is currently under control but the extinguishing is still in progress. The carabinieri are examining the images from the cameras of some private homes in the village and some restaurants to trace the author of the wicked act
