The City of Napoli has definitively approved the urban planning variant of the Lot M di Scampia.
The decision was unanimously approved by the City Council, confirming the support of all the council groups, both majority and opposition. This initiative will allow the construction of 433 new homes and numerous public services: a nursery, a school, commercial activities, an urban forest, social gardens and even educational farms.A project that will allow the entire neighborhood to be redeveloped, on the one hand, by enhancing the urban fabric with services and public spaces of renewed quality, on the other, by strengthening connections thanks to the adaptation of local roads, with more functional connections and routes between the historic routes and the new buildings.
The synergy between the ASL, Civil Engineering, Basin Authority, Metropolitan City of Naples and the Local Administration has allowed the urban planning and administrative process to be completed in less than three months. The next step will be the conference of services. The latter, which will have a maximum duration of 30 days thanks to the simplifications introduced by the Pnrr, will collect opinions on the executive projects already developed by the Authority, paving the way for new constructions.
"The transformation of the suburbs is the great challenge of the cities and of Naples in particular - said the mayor Gaetano Manfredi -. Scampia is changing profoundly with a synergic action between the Municipality, citizens and movements of the territory. After the opening of the university, the intervention on the Vele marks a further fundamental stage of this relaunch plan. We are moving forward with great speed and determination. The compactness of the City Council shows that on the great transformations the city is united".
"We are very satisfied with the great speed with which the urban variant process of the Vele di Scampia area was brought to a conclusion. We have changed the old forecasts of the General Regulatory Plan that envisaged an exclusively tertiary function for this area, reintroducing residences and local services in line with the urban and social regeneration of this settlement - explained Laura Lieto, Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Urban Planning -, we are proud of the compactness that the Chamber has shown, proving that the regeneration of the Vele is not just a local problem but a national issue that goes beyond divisions and political alignments".
