In Teggiano from the Painting Exhibition set up in the Council Chamber “Antonio Innamorato”, in the SS. Pietà Complex.
On display until Saturday, November 18, are the paintings produced by the artists registered in the Painting Competition “Viaggio nel Vallo di Diano”, organized by the Association “Il Mosaico” in collaboration with the Municipality of Teggiano, led by Mayor Michele Di Candia. The artistic competition takes its name from the Project “Viaggio nel Vallo di Diano”, which features the Municipalities of Teggiano, Sala Consilina, Sassano, San Rufo, San Pietro al Tanagro and Monte San Giacomo.
The participants were asked to capture on the canvas a detail, a color, a landscape, a glimpse or even a memory, entrusting the intense emotions and charm of the places of the Vallo di Diano and their centuries-old traditions to the language of images. The 29 competing works are the result of the talent of artists coming not only from Campania, but also from other regions of Italy, including Calabria, Lazio and Lombardy. The task of the Jury, composed of scholars, journalists and professionals in the sector, is therefore expected to be very difficult: 500 euros for the first place, 300 euros for the second and 200 euros for the third. The “Giuseppe Pascucci” Award, worth 100 euros, reserved for an artist from the Vallo di Diano, and the social “Mi Piace il Mosaico” Award, worth 100 euros, reserved for the work that receives the most “likes” on the Facebook page of the Il Mosaico Association, will also be awarded.
“We have given continuity in an intelligent way -comments the mayor of Teggiano Michele Di Candia- to an initiative that has existed in our territory for years. The competition and the exhibition fit perfectly into the “Viaggio nel Vallo di Diano” project, which began in the summer and whose activities will continue until December. The events of the project continue to be very popular, as happened in recent days for the Chestnut Festival in San Rufo: demonstrating that it is not the seasons that make the difference, but the type of events scheduled and the ability to involve citizens. Even in October, November and December we can publicize our cultural, artistic and food and wine riches, highlighting our traditions and making this enormous heritage of the Val di Diano territory available not only to residents but also to those who come from outside”.
The Mosaic Association is very satisfied with its participation in the Competition. “The works are very beautiful - highlights Francesco Di Mieri- and we are delighted to be able to contribute to telling the story of the beauty and excellence of Teggiano and the entire Vallo di Diano. Among the 29 participants there are artists who come from the province of Salerno and Campania, but also from distant regions: one of the works comes from Tivoli, another from Milan. Many have decided, before creating the work, to visit Teggiano and the surrounding towns, and there has been no shortage of enthusiastic participation from children and young people, starting from 5 years old. The invitation is therefore to visit the splendid exhibition set up at the Monumental Complex of the Santissima Pietà, and to participate in the final awards ceremony that will take place on November 19 in Piazza San Marco. On this occasion, those present will also be offered a real food and wine delicacy: the Teggianesi "stews".
The exhibition of the competing works can be visited every day until November 18, from 9:00 to 17:00, at the SS. Pietà Complex. The final event of the “Viaggio nel Vallo di Diano” Competition, with the awarding of the winners, is scheduled in San Marco di Teggiano on Sunday November 19.
