Artisans of San Gregorio Armeno awarded.
“This morning, the presentation of the book 'Buon Compleanno Presepe' was held at the Convent of San Lorenzo Maggiore, in the Sant'Antonio room in the courtyard of Piazza San Gaetano, 316, with the writer and journalist Salvo Esposito, who, after having illustrated his book starting from the message of the Saint of Assisi left us on Christmas night in 1223, 800 years later, we underlined the majesty of the symbols of a Neapolitan nativity scene that is increasingly present, not only in the homes of Neapolitans, but throughout the world! – declared the president of the Botteghe di San Gregorio Armeno, Vincenzo Capuano -.
We are truly happy to have been invited to this very important event, because they received the Ago d'Oro Praesepium Award, illustrious figures from the world of Neapolitan culture and food, but in particular many of the Botteghe of San Gregorio Armeno were awarded, from Ferrigno to Di Virgilio, from the Scuotto Brothers to Marco D'Auria, to Cristian Carpi, to other master craftsmen even myself. San Gregorio is a true symbol of Neapolitan nativity scene art, it is right to defend and enhance it as we are doing. In a few weeks the project of the school of nativity scene art of San Gregorio Armeno will start.
This year's award was created by the well-known ceramist from Caltagirone Bartolomeo Frazzetta, who created a plate where a stylized nativity scene is prominently displayed and Vesuvius can be admired in perspective. In addition to the former president of the Botteghe di San Gregorio Armeno, the current vice president of our association Serena d'Alessandro, who coordinated the award ceremony, were present, as well as a special thanks to Frate Domenico who hosted us for the event".
