Naples. The bureaucratic and technical problems that have prevented or slowed down the installation of the lights have not stopped the Christmas spirit of the merchants of Corso Umberto di Napoli and the Consul of the Democratic Republic of Congo Angel Melon who, by taxing themselves, allowed the lights of the central Neapolitan street to be turned on.
The gesture, also captured in a very popular social post by the famous entrepreneur-pizza chef Enrico Porzio, was particularly appreciated by tourists and residents but also by the President of the Second Municipality Robert Marino and by the Councillor for 'Productive Activities, Tourism and Legality' Lorenzo Iorion, who met with a representation of the traders and the lawyer Melone at the Consulate headquarters.
President Marino was particularly satisfied, according to whom: “thanks to this contribution for the lighting of Corso Umberto, we will embellish the longest commercial street in Naples: our Municipality, with its own strengths and prerogatives, will always be alongside the traders and those who have the city of Naples at heart”.
Franco Veglianti, President of the Corso Umberto Shopping Centre, echoed this sentiment and took the opportunity to thank Consul Melone. “for the important sponsorship and for the successful installation of the Christmas lights”.
“Behind this project – Consul Melone explains – there is great teamwork: these lights not only decorate our streets, but also highlight the spirit of solidarity and collaboration that characterizes our city.
It is a tangible sign of how together we can make a difference and make our urban environment more welcoming and vibrant for everyone. In addition to the touch of magic and beauty offered to our landscape, the lights play a fundamental role in welcoming and enchanting the tourists who crowd our streets during the Christmas period.
Together, with our commitment and support, we can continue to make our streets shine and spread joy and happiness throughout the city: in thanking those who made this project possible, we wish the Neapolitan people and tourists a wonderful Christmas period".
