National Award 'Serra-Campi Flegrei': The Finalists of the 2024 Edition
The auditions for the 2024 edition of the “Serra-Campi Flegrei” National Award, sponsored by the Municipality of NapoliThe final will be held on Monday 7 October, at 21:00 pm, at Serra Theatre of Fuorigrotta, in Via Diocleziano 316.
The Auditions and the Jury
Once the selections were completed, eight competing artists were highlighted in the Actors and Authors categories by judges Enrico Basile, Mario Cangiano, Fabiana Fazio, Salvatore Felaco, Luisa Guarro, Vladimir Marino, Joao Santos, and Michele Schiano di Cola. The competition welcomed candidates from all over Italy, including students from the country's leading schools and academies, placing emphasis on current issues such as emigration, deaths at sea, labor exploitation, and other social issues.
Words of the Founders
“The award confirms itself, once again, as an opportunity to meet the national scene, the new dramaturgy and the social and human tensions that fuel it”, say Pietro Tammaro and Mauro Palumbo, founders of the Flegrean space. During the final evening, an Honorary Jury composed of personalities from the worlds of entertainment, culture and journalism will proclaim the winner of each section, with a prize of 500 euros up for grabs.
The Finalists
The following have reached the final in the Actors category:
– Ilaria Romano with the monologue “Thom Pain” by Will Eno
– Carmen Del Giudice with “San Genesio” written by Alessandro Paschitto
– Valerio Lombardi interpreter of “Er fatticcio” by Americo Giuliani
– Riccardo Marotta author of “A Question of Life or Death”, which explores choices and destiny with bittersweet reflections
In the Authors category, the following were selected:
– Viola Di Caprio with “Fine vita”, a satire on the impositions of our time
– Alessio Palumbo with “A lei no”, confessions on life, illness and love inspired by reality
– Marco Maffei, with the story in hendecasyllables “Lost Words. El Alamein, 1942”.
Giulia Nemiz will participate both as Author and Actress with “Per fede o per amore”, inspired by the Story true story of a Syrian shipwreck in the Mediterranean.
Special Mentions
Special mentions for acting were awarded to:
– Barbara Lauletta, for the excerpt from the novel “Fire over Naples” by Ruggero Cappuccio
– Cristina Maffia for the performance of Marion in “Death of Danton” by Georg Büchner
Other special mentions went to texts by:
– Maria Gabriella Olivi, for “The Promise of Rust”
– Giuseppina Ferro, for “'A casa 'ngoppe San Martino”
– Francesco Scotto, for “Nobody”
– Alessandro Esposito, for “For a Trampled Shoe”
Furthermore, Emanuele Iovino received a special mention both as Author and Actor for the masked drama “Storia 'e nu ciummo ca vuleva turna' a nascere”, in the role of the River Sebeto.
