The Carabinieri of the Teano Station reported at large a 30-year-old from Naples, responsible for a scam against an elderly local woman.
The episode dates back to March 11, when the man, with a clever ruse, convinced the 80-year-old that his nephew was about to be arrested for an undelivered package.
In a panic, the victim handed over to the scammer, who had shown up at her home, cash, jewellery and debit cards with a total value of around 850 euros.
Thanks to tenacious investigative activity, the Carabinieri identified the culprit thanks to the images from the video surveillance cameras of the Sparanise post office, where the man had gone to withdraw money with the victim's ATM card.
The images allowed us to trace the license plate of the car used by the scammer, which was registered to a rental company based in Naples Capodichino.
Here, the military acquired the rental documentation, obtaining a photo of the man who had rented the car, whose physical features matched those captured by the cameras.
Subjected to photographic identification, the victim he recognized the 30-year-old without a shadow of a doubt as the perpetrator of the scam.
