Torre del Greco. Last night, as reported by the Association Nessuno Tocchi Ippocrate, the brother of a patient just discharged from the emergency room of the Maresca Hospital went into a rage and began to violently attack health workers and security guards.
According to him, his brother, hospitalized for psychomotor agitation, should not have returned home and demanded that the facility continue to treat him.
At that point he started to attack three paramedics and two security guards, knocking them out.
The five had to seek medical attention and the first aid it has been closed, except for red codes.
"We are faced with yet another unreasonable violence inside a hospital. Health workers, doctors, security guards live with the nightmare of being attacked daily, as reported in the news of Naples, and all of this is intolerable.
It is necessary to adopt very severe and certain penalties against those who think they can commit violence inside hospitals and health facilities. Zero tolerance against these criminals who put public safety at risk.
Yesterday, the worst off were three health workers and two security guards, to whom I extend my full solidarity. But even more serious was the closure of the emergency room, which will undoubtedly have caused considerable inconvenience to citizens who needed medical care.
Enough with impunity, we must act firmly to protect those who save lives every day, from those who, instead, are only capable of spreading violence and crime". This is the comment of Francesco Emilio Borrelli, deputy of the Green Alliance – Left.
