A roar tore through the night in Naples, more precisely in the Pianura neighborhood. Around 23 pm yesterday evening, a powerful explosion literally shattered the entrance to a building on Via Nabucco, sowing panic among residents.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. However, the episode can only make one think the worst. In fact, a 47-year-old believed to be the regent of the Lago clan resides in the building. At the moment, the causes of the explosion remain shrouded in mystery and the hypothesis of an ambush is not excluded.
The State Police patrol cars immediately intervened on the spot, and began investigations to shed full light on the incident. The investigators of the Pianura police station are combing the area in search of any elements useful for reconstructing the dynamics of the explosion.
The episode is part of a context of high tension, given that in the last few hours the State Police has carried out 15 arrests as part of an anti-mafia operation coordinated by the District Anti-mafia Directorate. The measures concerned the Carillo and Esposito-Marsicano, who operate right in the Pianura area.
Probable retaliation after the raid
Last night's explosion could be linked to these recent investigative developments. It cannot be ruled out, in fact, that it was a retaliation by some leading figure of the criminal organizations hit by the operation.
The investigation is still ongoing and is expected to be long and complex. Investigators are analyzing images from surveillance cameras in the area and are questioning witnesses. The goal is to identify the perpetrators of the explosion and shed full light on this disturbing episode.
