Avellino – Another night of violence at the REMS in San Nicola Baronia, where a patient went berserk, attacking two nurses who were trying to restrain him.
The incident occurred last night and required the intervention of the Carabinieri to restore calm. Both the attacker and the two health workers were injured and were transported to the hospital in Ariano Irpino.
This latest episode comes in an already critical context: just a few days ago, a patient died after falling from a bridge. Numerous other episodes of violence and suicide attempts have alerted unions and institutions to the precarious situation within the facility.
The Fials union reiterated the need for urgent interventions to guarantee the safety of patients and operators, announcing new legal initiatives.
