Naples celebrates Pino Daniele: a mural inaugurated in his school classroom
NAPLES – A mural dedicated to Pino Daniele was unveiled today in the room that bears his name at the Elena di Savoia-Diaz State Higher Education Institute, in the heart of Naples' historic center.
The work, created by the students with the contribution of the artist Corrado Teso, collaborator of the Jorit Foundation, is inspired by the song of the famous Neapolitan singer-songwriter "Time for a change", with the evocative message taken from his lyrics: "I don't want indifference, I want more awareness.".
The initiative was accompanied by the presentation of the book "Feeling" by Gianni Valentino, poet, performer and journalist, who revealed a previously unknown side of the artist who passed away in January 2015.

Also present at the ceremony were school principal Daniela Oliviero, musician Gianni Guarracino, and journalist Gennaro Marco Duello. "The classroom was named after Pino Daniele in 2016 with a commemorative plaque. Today, with this mural, we once again celebrate the unbreakable bond between his music and our city," added Valentino.
Among the mementos on display is the original diploma of Pino Daniele, who graduated in the 1974-1975 school year as an accountant and commercial expert from the then "A. Diaz" State Technical Commercial Institute. Next to the mural, the students also placed a selection of his school grades, testifying to the young man's passing. Pino Daniele within those same walls.
The book "Feeling" focuses on twelve songs by the artist, revealing as many "identities" of Pino DanieleFrom film composer to poet, from Neapolitan dialect enthusiast to the ability to tell stories with a few powerful lines. "His art," explains Valentino, "is capable of blending current events, emotion, and irony in a unique way."
