The 39-year-old from Scafati, entrepreneur and security guard, involved in an investigation into intercontinental drug trafficking, remains under house arrest. The man, reached last May by an order from the investigating judge of Salerno, is accused of having participated in the importation of over a ton of vacuum-packed marijuana from Canada.
The investigation, conducted by the Guardia di Finanza, had led to the seizure of a provided containers, arrived at the port of Salerno and officially intended to transport dried fruit. Inside, however, 1.168 kilos of marijuana were found. In addition to the 39-year-old, 16 other people ended up in the register of suspects.
According to investigators, the entrepreneur allegedly exploited the family business to facilitate the importation of drugs. After the seizure, the man moved to Treviso, where he worked as a private security guard, but the continuation of the investigation confirmed his involvement.
The appeal presented to the Supreme Court was declared inadmissible in September, thus confirming the precautionary measure. In its reasons, the Review Court emphasized that the 39-year-old is part of a "proven criminal network" dedicated to drug trafficking and that his relationships with the other suspects require the application of the restrictive measure.
