Naples – The redevelopment of the Maschio Angioino stands has been completed, giving back to the community and visitors an area of approximately 500 square meters.
The operation involved the staff of Napoli Servizi, Asia, Anm, the Social Services of the Municipality, the Environmental Investigation Unit of the Social Emergencies of the Local Police and the Veterinary Service of the ASL.
The work, which began in recent weeks with small interventions, was concluded this morning thanks to the use of special equipment necessary to remove over 10 tons of accumulated waste. In addition, Asia collected an additional 50 quintals of waste and 20 quintals of bulky materials. Among the objects recovered, also an abandoned motorcycle without a license plate.
A portion of the concrete and metal fence, left over from an old subway construction site, was removed, thus restoring a portion of the sidewalk. Two homeless people, previously settled in the area, were taken into care by Social Services.
An improvised camp, made of metal sheets and wire mesh containing clothes, mattresses, suitcases and other objects, was demolished. At the end of the operations, the entire area was sanitized.
The I Municipality has announced the convening of a conference of services to develop a project for the redevelopment and safety of the area, with the aim of making it accessible to both tourists and Neapolitan citizens.

The redevelopment of the Maschio Angioino stands was an important step for the community. It's nice to see so much rubbish removed, but I hope it will be kept clean in the future. Social services have done well to take care of the homeless.
