IThe City Council of Capri This morning it approved the regulation regarding courtesy cars (vehicles) of business accommodation facilities, beach resorts, public establishments and travel agencies, in order to regulate the size of cars and minibuses and the services provided.
A long and detailed debate opened on the subject, which ended with the majority voting in favor, which supports the municipal administration, while the minority council group expressed its vote against and subsequently released a document in which it explains that its position is dictated in particular by the failure to convene the Statute and Regulations commission and by the failure to involve the Municipality of Anacapri, which is appointed to be involved in the choices that the Municipality of Capri will adopt on the entire territory of the Island.
In reporting on the matter, the deputy mayor and councilor for mobility of the City of Capri, Roberto Bozzaotre, declared: “Traffic is a serious problem and all categories must make some sacrifices to improve traffic flow,” explained the deputy mayor who then added: “You can easily use smaller vehicles that are suitable for our roads and this is the spirit of the regulation.
Obviously we are also working on other measures for the transport of goods and the circulation of rental buses”. Mayor Paolo Falco highlights the innovative aspect of the decision: “We are the first municipality in Italy to adopt a regulation of this kind. Our thanks go to the Commander of the Municipal Police and the consultants of the Municipality for the preparation of this regulation that was also viewed with interest by the trade associations”.
After the vote, the minority councilor Roberto Russo declared: "We are evaluating as an opposition group to present an appeal to the TAR against the regulation that involves the choices of many tourist operators who operate in every corner of the island and in the two municipalities. The Regulation did not have the approval of the Metropolitan City of Naples, the sole owner of the provincial roads of the island of Capri, but in particular of the Municipality of Capri;".
According to the first rumors coming from the Municipality of Anacapri, the mayor Franco Cerrotta has already expressed his dissent for "an unequivocal decision that excludes" Anacapri from the drafting of a document of such vital importance and has announced that he will appeal to all appropriate venues for the lack of involvement of the Inter-municipal Consultation.
