Torre del Greco – A brutal attack shocked Torre del Greco in the early hours of Sunday morning. A 23-year-old boy was beaten outside his home by two peers, one of whom was armed with a gun, in Piazza Luigi Palomba, the heart of the city center.
The victim's mother recounted the incident in a social post full of anger and pain:
“My son was attacked at dawn, outside our house. Two boys, his peers, beat him for no reason. One had a gun. He tried to escape, to ask for help, to defend himself.
The dynamics: the escape, the gun and the rescue
We helped him, called 118 and the police. The attackers were stopped, searched, taken to the barracks... and then released. When we returned home, one of them - the one with the gun - was already back in the square, as if nothing had happened."
The episode has sparked outrage among residents, who are wondering how it is possible that two men arrested for assault and possession of a weapon were released a few hours later.
The matter was also reported to the Green Left MP Francesco Emilio Borrelli, who denounced: “The father of the attacked boy has a shop right in that square. How can he feel safe, knowing that the person who massacred his son is already free?”
Borrelli launched an accusation against the judicial system: “This case shows that justice and security policies need to be radically changed. If after an attack like this the perpetrators are released immediately, what should we expect? People are afraid, and rightly so.”
What will happen now?
The Carabinieri confirmed the arrest and subsequent release of the two attackers, but the investigation is still ongoing. Meanwhile, the victim's family is calling for justice and greater protection, while the community is questioning the safety of the streets.
