Ranucci leaves Report: co-hosted by Presutti and Piervincenzi

ROME – A decisive shift in direction for one of the cornerstones of the public service broadcaster. Starting next television season, Report will no longer be hosted by a single journalist, but will be managed by a pair of journalists: Giulia Presutti and Daniele Piervincenzi. The decision, officially announced by RAI, marks the beginning of a new phase for the investigative program, based on fieldwork and the recognition of internal resources recruited through public selection.

New faces from the Rai competition: who are the new hosts?

Viale Mazzini's selection focuses on two individuals who have built their careers in investigative journalism. Giulia Presutti, who came first in Rai's selection process for professional journalists, has been one of the program's key correspondents for years, specializing in investigations on topics of significant public interest.

Alongside him will be Daniele Piervincenzi, also a winner of the Rai competition, a figure well known to television audiences for his reporting on social issues, crime, and the suburbs on programs such as Nemo – Nessuno escluso and Popolo Sovrano. During an investigation in Ostia for Nemo in 2017, Piervincenzi was the victim of a serious assault, an incident that became a symbol of the difficulties and risks of field journalism in Italy.

The Ranucci issue and guarantees for investigative journalism

The changeover also brings with it a reorganization of Sigfrido Ranucci's position. In the official statement, the Company specifies that it has presented the outgoing host with three different professional relocation options, defined in union agreements and tailored to his profile and experience, to ensure his continuity within the editorial offering.

Rai has reportedly submitted proposals to Sigfrido Ranucci, currently deputy director ad personam, to resign from the management of Report. They would be a position at Rainews, or at Tg3, or a correspondence office.

In justifying the redesign, RAI emphasizes that the authority of investigative journalism lies in "full editorial independence and rigorous impartiality." Investing in Presutti and Piervincenzi means, for the public service broadcaster, focusing on merit and generational change to strengthen its news offering.
