The complaint of the Campania Nurses Movement. Regional Councilor Borrelli: “Legality must be restored immediately”
The health personnel of the ASL of Salerno, inserted in a special ranking, have not been correctly placed. There are people who have skipped even 700 places in the list, being assigned to the hospital of Oliveto
Citra instead of in the prisons for which they had given availability". This is what was denounced by the Campania Nurses and Health Professions Movement, which reported the bad use, according to them, of the ranking as compiled following a regular call for tenders issued by the Salerno Health Authority.
"After the selection process, the ASL launched a call for expressions of interest for those who wanted to work in prisons, guaranteeing priority in the ranking. After the first ten placements, the others were instead assigned to the hospice and the hospital facility of Oliveto Citra in defiance of the call for expressions of interest and those people who respected the rules. The paradox is that the same people also work overtime in prisons since, since the procedure was not followed, they continue to be short of staff.
It happens that in a prison with 600 inmates there is only one nurse, forced to work putting his safety at risk. The health personnel are forced to carry infected sharps from one arm of the prison to another in order to dispose of them according to current legislation". This was stated by Giovanni Petrillo, vice president of the Mic.
“We must immediately restore legality in the management of the rankings of nurses in the Salerno health company out of respect, first of all, for the workers who followed the rules, but above all to avoid
that failure to comply with the expression of interest could create a dangerous precedent. Bypassing the rankings by expressing interest in holding positions in prison administrations and then being diverted to health care facilities is an unacceptable ploy. We will not allow anyone to adopt tricks to circumvent the laws and rules that govern health care in Campania.
I asked the company's top management to verify what happened and, if what was reported by the Campania Nurses Movement is confirmed, the ASL must retrace its steps and correctly relocate the staff". This was stated by Francesco Emilio Borrelli, regional councilor of the Greens and member of the Health commission, who collected the complaint of the MIC.
