“The Hidden Child”, a film by Roberto Andò based on his novel published by Nave di Teseo starring Silvio Orlando
The film will be “in mid-February” but its release will have to wait until the cinemas reopen.
“I managed to finish filming on set in August,” says the director. “But at this point I think the film will be released in the fall, when, hopefully, theaters can reopen. I have nothing against platforms,” he specifies. “The pandemic has only accelerated a process that was already underway. But culturally, precisely to avoid accentuating that detachment and shore up the relationship with the public, right now we have to defend theaters, stand by exhibitors.”
Filmed in Naples and produced by BiBi Film and Rai Cinema, the film tells the story of Gabriele Santoro, a piano professor at the San Pietro Conservatory played by Silvio Orlando, and of a ten-year-old boy who sneaks into his apartment one morning. Platforms and theaters, adds Andò, “are two different seasons. But for me, cinema, for the social and cultural significance it has, is in the theater.”
