Audi gang, 4 convictions: they used flashing lights like the police
They had been stopped in Marzano Appio, after a daring chase on the A1, between San Vittore and Caianello. The 3 members of the group were sentenced to 4 and a half years of imprisonment each. “Audi gang”, as it had been renamed, which had carried out dozens of thefts between the province of Frosinone and the upper Caserta area.
Yesterday, the preliminary hearing judge Ivana Salvatore, at the end of the abbreviated trial, pronounced her sentence: a 3 year and 6 month sentence for the 4 members of the gang, all of Serbian origin and residents of the Roma camp in SecondiglianoThey were accused of resisting arrest, assault, receiving stolen goods, attempted theft and possession of counterfeit signs because, to make it easier for them to escape after the robberies, they used to use a flashing light (like the one used by the police) on their car with stolen license plates.
The prosecutor had requested a 5-year prison sentence for all of them, but the defense managed to obtain a reduction in sentence.
The gang was intercepted at the San Vittore toll booth by the Cassino traffic police last October. The officers realized that something was wrong and tried to stop the criminals. A long chase ensued that lasted for about 20 km, at the end of which, in Marzano Appio, the four were stopped.
