"We are here” is the new highly anticipated album by Vasco Rossi, the 18th to be precise, out today, November 12th.
Provocation, irony, nostalgia, mockery, and that pinch of madness: Vasco makes himself heard with a classic rock album, “all played” by musicians with real instruments such as drums, bass, electric guitars and keyboards.
“A very spontaneous and direct, fun and entertaining album – says Vasco – a Classic Rock album, in an obstinate and contrary direction, as de Andrè would say, compared to the trends in vogue. Played, recorded, "good at first sight": rock that does not need tricks or devilry to provoke and excite. The songs were born to be sung live. I wrote them thinking of live, and now I can't wait to get back on stage, I can't wait, now that 2022 is approaching".
A burst of energy that arrives at the right time: songs that roll, rock'n'roll and power ballads. Bitter and sweet, as in the best Vaschian tradition.
In “Siamo Qui”, the songs talk a lot about the present but, for Vasco, they are already the past. “I generally live in the past or the future, I am never present. On stage, however, I am there, I am present".
And that's where it's projected now, on the Vasco Live 2022 which will start in spring, from May 20th in Trento for a special event to continue with the dates already sold out and rescheduled for 2022 (sold out Milan, Florence, Rome and Imola).
And with the new ones in the stadiums of 5 other cities for which tickets are starting to run out: already sold out Bari and Turin, there are still some for Naples, Ancona and Messina. In total 11 concerts.
All his albums are a portrait of a time, Vasco writes: “The beauty is this: understanding, evaluating, interpreting the time one lives, above all learning to know oneself. It's always me, with a little more awareness! Which, of course, is no consolation. But there's no going back".
10 songs, 10 stories, each different from the other, that make up his ironic dreamlike look at the human condition today, and at society, including its contradictions and complications.
With the disillusionment of “We are here“, we find ourselves in front of a great interpreter and a great song. The song “Rain on Sundays“, is the only pop song on the album, full of the irony of “Moody Sunday".
Two spine-chilling ballads follow, “I found you again"and "One more breath“, then the atmosphere becomes incandescent again with the hard rock of “You're angry with me” and immediately after the pure fun of “Pact with redemption".
Metaphorical lyrics, lots of energy and that touch of curious and compelling madness from a mystical experience in “Let's take flight“, without forgetting the first hit “A love song thrown away".
For the music, the authors accomplices of many hits: Tullio Ferro, Roberto Casini and Gaetano Curreri. To them must be added the more recent collaborators: Vince Pàstano, Andrea Righi, Andrea Fornili, Saverio Grandi, Saverio Principini and Simone Sello. There is also a bit of Guido Elmi, in the music of the rock song “Tu ce l'hai con me” that he had begun to write with Vince Pàstano.
The arrangements of the songs are entrusted to Celso Valli, who has collaborated with Vasco for many, many years, and Vince Pàstano who, having joined the band as guitarist at the time of Elmi, has had the task for some years of arranging the songs for the live shows.
