The Catania Prosecutor's Office has requested a life sentence for Giampiero Riccioli, accused of the murder of Alessandro Sabatino, 40, and Luigi Cerreto, 23, two carers killed in Sicily in 2014.
In November the man had been judged capable of understanding, after the defense requested an expert opinion. In today's hearing, life imprisonment was requested for Riccioli. According to the reconstruction of the facts, the bodies of the two were found in February, after almost 7 years, in the villa of Riccioli, son of the man that Sabatino and Cerreto assisted as carers, near Syracuse.
The two were allegedly tied, still alive, with cable ties, then shot in the head. After the murder, they were buried in the garden of the villa; a brick barbecue was then built there. The next hearing is scheduled for January 18.
The relatives of the two carers have recently been admitted as civil parties, represented by the lawyers Enzo Guida, Sabrina Girotti, Natalino Giannotti and Paolo Ascione.
