“The dramatic killing of Antonio Morione has deeply affected the citizens of Boscoreale. Today more than ever, there is an awareness that we must awaken consciences in the face of any form of violence, abuse and oppression.
Over time, fear of organized crime and petty crime has created an unsustainable boundary between people's needs and the process of emancipation of our territories. The inadequacy of policies on security, child protection, school, training, and the administration of 'public affairs' combined with a poor sense of civic participation have contributed to having a heavy impact on the rooting of the subculture and power of the Camorra.
If its consensus has grown in the most fragile and vulnerable social strata, it is also true that it has managed to infiltrate parts of society, becoming a regulatory body. The absence of development projects, job opportunities, support and accompaniment for the weakest, the lack of welfare has sanctioned the institutionalization and precariousness of illegal work, the only alternative for survival and a potential pool from which the 'Camorra system' draws, recruiting laborers.
Where the State is absent, Camorra organizations sow and reap, managing, in some cases, to influence the future structure of municipal administrations through the 'clientelistic vote exchange market'. The Committee for the Liberation from the Camorra Torrese-Boschese-Stabiese Area Sud di Napoli does not only want to remember the sacrifice of Antonio Morione, but asks and demands from the State: Justice and truth.
It invites the honest and hardworking part of Boscoreale to rebel with concrete actions against the oppressive power of the 'Camorra system', to take back and exercise their right to citizenship, to build a moral revolt from below and force the institutions to respond in a tangible way to stop the disintegration of our land. It is time to react, not to be accomplices. Enough with looking the other way. Let us not make vain the sacrifice and that innocent blood shed by Antonio Morione and Maurizio Cerrato, the latest in order of time, innocent victims of the Camorra”.
