The epidemic curve in Italy is still rising. There are 74.024 new cases, compared to 76.250 yesterday but above all 53.825 last Saturday: a 40% increase on a weekly basis. The swabs processed are 478.051 (yesterday 490.883), with a positivity rate that remains stable at 15,5%. There are 85 deaths (yesterday 165): it is the lowest number since December 26th. The total victims since the beginning of the pandemic are 157.692. Hospitalizations are decreasing again: intensive care units are 3 fewer (yesterday +1) with 56 admissions today, and are at 471 overall, while ordinary hospitalizations decrease by 84 units (yesterday +6), 8.319 in total. This is what emerges from the daily bulletin of the Ministry of Health.
The region with the highest number of cases today is Lazio with 8.986 infections, followed by Lombardy (+8.052), Campania (+7.903), Puglia (+7.392), and Veneto (+6.831). Total cases reach 13.800.179. Those discharged/recovered in the last 24 hours are 48.385 (yesterday 46.408) for a total that rises to 12.494.968. The currently positive cases are still increasing, 27.298 more (yesterday +32.004), and they rise to 1.147.519. Of these 1.138.729 patients are in home isolation.
