The capture in Spain of Vincenzo Cinquegrana, an international cocaine broker, represents a hard blow to the drug market not only in Campania.
In fact, Cinquegrana did business with everyone: in particular, he dealt with the exchange of drugs in South America with direct contacts with the bosses of the Medellin cartel, managing to send large loads of 'white powder' to Salerno, by ship, under the direction of the Neapolitan clans who controlled the illicit traffic from Valencia, Spain.
The former fugitive, betrayed by social profiles and captured in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, a town of 200 thousand inhabitants a few kilometers from Barcelona, does not belong to any Camorra group, but with other accomplices filled the squares for six groups in which elements linked to the five clans operated: the The Russian of Miano, i From Thomas of Forcella (Genny 'a carogna's family), the Caivano's steward, Journey to Torre Annunziata, Aquino-Annunziata in Boscoreale and Sheepdog-Reindeer of Eboli, Battipaglia and the Piana del Sele. Recipient of a precautionary measure in 2013 with 141 other people, which later became a closed judicial proceeding with a sentence, he managed to escape.
“Congratulations to the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Naples and to the Service for International Police Cooperation of the Central Directorate of the Criminal Police of the Department of Public Security for the operation, coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Naples, which led to the arrest in Spain of Vincenzo Cinquegrana, included since 2013 in the list of dangerous fugitives drawn up by the Ministry of the Interior”.
The Minister of the Interior, Luciana Lamorgese, declared this. “Thanks to the professionalism and dedication of the investigators who constantly monitored social media channels and activated a continuous exchange of information with the Spanish police,” the Minister of the Interior underlined, “it was possible to reconstruct the network of relationships and habits of the wanted man and thus bring him to justice.”
“An important result that demonstrates once again the ability of our police forces to establish effective international collaboration relationships, capable of effectively combating crime that operates outside national borders, relying on the connection with organizations that operate abroad and on common illicit interests, especially in drug trafficking”, concluded Lamorgese, underlining “the daily commitment of the judiciary and law enforcement to guarantee legality and security”.
