Naples Weather, early summer in Italy with temperatures above 35 degrees until May 23, then risk of monsoon rains.
Early summer in Italy, but not only: climate change is bringing exceptional temperatures to much of our hemisphere, already in May. Who knows what will happen in summer, will we have a worse season than 2003?
Meanwhile, in Pakistan temperatures reached 51°C in the shade, in Delhi, India the absolute record for May was broken with over 49°C. Other numbers come from Hannibal, the North African heat wave that is invading Europe: we are already 4-8 degrees above average in the western sector, but for next weekend temperatures are expected to rise 16°C above normal.
This “monstrous” value is expected on Iberian Peninsula where, without a doubt, numerous May records will be broken and probably also some absolute annual values: in Italy is expected to experience peak heat next Saturday with an anomaly of 10 degrees and with values around 35-36°C in the shade between the Po Valley and Sardinia.
Even the South will begin to feel the effects of Hannibal over the next few days with temperatures slightly lower than the rest of the Bel Paese. Lorenzo Tedici, Site meteorologist www.iLMeteo.it, confirms that the warm wave of Hannibal It will hit especially the Iberian Peninsula and France, then, as in 2003, it will expand towards the western sectors of Italy. Temperatures of 25-27°C are also expected at 1500 meters in the mountains, to find refreshment we will have to dive into the water: the sea temperature is still decidedly cool, around 22°C.
But be careful: because when these persistent waves occur, heat and energy tend to accumulate and then transform into "fuel" for storms. As soon as a disturbance arrives, after the end of the heat wave, we will risk "monsoon rains" also in Italy. At the moment the warm phase is expected until May 23.
