Napoli. “This morning, the prefect of Napoli, Claudio Palomba, and the mayor of the city of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi, chaired a new meeting of the Round Table dedicated to the implementation of coordinated interventions for the recovery, enhancement and safety of the Galleria Umberto I”.
The Prefecture of Naples communicated this in a note. "The meeting was attended by the councilors for Urban Planning, Laura Lieto, for the Municipal Police and for Legality, Antonio De Iesu, the mayor's chief of staff, Maria Grazia Falciatore, the superintendent of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape, Luigi La Rocca, the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Ciro Fiola, the president of Aicast, Liliana Langella, the vice president of Confcommercio, Luigi Muto, a representative of the Campania Molise telecommunications area, Andrea Affinito, and the administrators of some of the condominiums that insist in the Galleria".
But that's not all: "During the session, in which the usefulness of the project was unanimously recognized, especially in terms of the enhancement and recovery of the site, the progress of the projects underway for the architectural recovery of the floor and the vault was examined. In particular, the Municipality assured the start of emergency interventions on the latter in order to eliminate infiltrations.
The mayor confirmed the active commitment of the Administration on the respective competences. In fact, inspections will be carried out shortly on the skylight to verify the works to be carried out. Furthermore, the possibility of activating a night guard service for a trial period of six months with expenses paid by the condominiums and with the contribution support of Aicast and the Bank of Italy was profitably discussed.
The project for the implementation and adaptation of the video surveillance of the site created by the Campania Molise telecommunications area was also presented. The possibility of closing some access gates to the Gallery during the night hours was also discussed”. Finally: “All participants shared the need to formalize their respective commitments in a memorandum of understanding that will be examined during the next week, to be signed by the month of May”.
