Giffoni celebrates the 6 thousand episodes of Un Posto al Sole. “A much-loved series that tells the story of a more beautiful Naples.”
A great milestone for 'Un posto al sole': the daily drama produced by Rai Fiction and Fremantle in collaboration with the Rai TV Production Center in Naples, celebrates - next July 29 - the broadcast of episode no. 6000. For the occasion, Patrizio Rispo, Miriam Candurro, and Michelangelo Tommaso together with the "little" interpreters Sofia Piccirillo, Greta Putaturo and Gennaro de Simone, are guests today at the Giffoni Film Festival (Giffoni Valle Piana - SA), to reveal anecdotes and secrets of the beloved series to the jurors and present a small preview of the special episode no. 6000.
On air for 25 years, Un posto al sole is much more than a “daily drama”, it is a true social phenomenon, followed every day on Rai 3 by an average of approximately 1,6 million viewers as well as one of the most successful and longest-running serial products on Italian television. The series, produced by Rai Fiction, Fremantle in collaboration with the TV Production Center Rai di Napoli, intertwines love, intrigue, passion, revenge, jealousy, friendship with everyday life and society.
“This series, followed all over the world - Explains Patrizio Rispo, one of the most beloved historical faces, speaking about cinematographic and television products that portray a different Naples, subjected to crime – tells the most beautiful Campania. There are other series that describe another cross-section and I see them as television products, as I see an American film set in New York. They are aspects of society.
Identifying that all this is Naples is just a dullness of those who read it like this. Welcome to these series that we have sold all over the world. Only that Naples is not only this. It would be the case to tell another Naples and it is a much loved Naples.
There are foreigners who follow us from abroad and also learn the language thanks to ourstr episodes. It's been years – Rispo always tells – that I would like to stimulate a series on eighteenth-century Naples. Our city was truly the capital of the world in that period. No one, at the moment, takes up this idea of mine. It would be nice to tell these realities of our glorious past, instead of always riding this aspect of grotesque or comedy or corruption. Naples is something else”.
Rispo also said about his soul often turned towards charitable and social initiatives: “we, popular characters, are listened to. Today we are no longer listened to. When I see someone throwing a piece of paper on the ground I pick it up, when I make a video urging people to donate blood, people line up in front of the Pausilipon hospital. These are signals that then leave their mark. We are an example and we must also set an example in the narration of our characters. Among our spectators there are also Italian prisoners. They must also see the consequences of their actions. Some people can even change their lives”.
Still on Un posto al sole and the six thousand episodes he adds: “We will have a party with all the actors who have passed through the series. There will be no television scenes. But we will gather together to celebrate this great milestone”.
"Why - reiterates Michelangelo Thomas - we are a big family. I was supposed to stay a few months and instead I'm still here after twenty years. I also married a colleague.
