Mann, multimedia installation arrives to tell stories of redemption. A video is projected from the eyes of the recycled aluminum work.
From recycled aluminum, here is a large sculpture that reproduces the human iris: from the eyes of this multimedia work a video is projected, which tells how art is a means of social redemption.
The multimedia and interactive installation “Colloculi>We Are Art” by Annalaura di Luggo will be visible in the frescoes section of the National Archaeological Museum of Naples, from 12 October 2022 (inauguration at 17 pm) to 9 January 2023: the work, which takes its name from the fusion of two words (colloquium- dialogue and oculus- eye), is “activated” thanks to the interaction with the visitor who, stopping in front of the work, allows the synthetic pupil to start the video.
The message reserved for the public is “taken” from true stories: Noemi, Youssouf, Larissa and Pino are the kids who offered their faces to testify how personal (and social) rebirth often begins from a difficult past. Even the protagonists of the video become surreal images: di Luggo plays on the theme of the eye and the gaze, both “deformed” to reach a final overall vision.
Vision possible only thanks to art: for the creation of the multimedia work, in fact, the artist has undertaken a real research journey, to discover those existential events that have found a turning point thanks to positive encounters. The presentation of “Colloculi>We Are Art” at the MANN is not a coincidence: for some time, in fact, the National Archaeological Museum of Naples has been working, in terms of accessibility, on the theme of sight.
A tactile work dedicated to the visually impaired and blind was recently inaugurated in the Institute's halls; Annalaura Di Luggo's work confirms the desire to investigate, also in a symbolic perspective, the social value of a theme, addressed in collaboration with the institutions in charge, from Colosimo to the Omero Tattile Museum. The exhibition "Colloculi>We Are Art" is promoted in collaboration with Fondazione Banco Napoli, Fideuram, Lombard Odier and Consorzio Ministeriale Imballaggi Alluminio (ciAL).
The creative process, at the basis of the construction of Annalaura di Luggo's work, is also the focus of the documentary "We Are Art Through the Eyes of Annalaura". The feature film has qualified for "Consideration" at the 2023 Oscars.
