Vico Equense. Mysterious death of a 34-year-old on the beach of the Seiano marina.
Late yesterday evening, the Carabinieri of the Vico Equense station intervened in the Marina di Seiano area to find a body.
This is Ugo Manganaro, a 34-year-old local fisherman who died presumably from electrocution. Investigations are underway to clarify the dynamics. The body has been seized and so has the entire area.
The magistrate on duty of the Torre Annunziata Prosecutor's Office has ordered an autopsy that will have to establish the causes of death. The Carabinieri investigations are aimed at ascertaining what happened.
The Carabinieri have acquired images from a video surveillance system in the area and are interviewing some people who were present at the time of the tragedy and who also provided first aid to the 34-year-old.
According to initial information, the man was walking when he was hit by the electric shock which, according to another hypothesis being examined by the military at the local station, could also have come from a cabin located near the point where the man, an unemployed man who occasionally worked on boats, died.
The man's body was found by the Carabinieri in Marina di Seiano, near the beach, a place usually frequented by the fisherman, who reached the area yesterday evening, perhaps for work reasons, despite the bad weather that hit Campania with the arrival of cyclone Poppea. From what we know, the cause of death would be a cardiac arrest.
There are two hypotheses under consideration: the 34-year-old could have been struck by lightning or by an electric discharge released by a lamppost. The autopsy will clarify the matter, but initial analyses of the body show that there were no signs of burns on the body.
