The Guardia di Finanza of Caserta has executed six precautionary measures as part of an investigation by the DDA of Naples.
Among others, the vice president of the Province of Caserta, Pasquale Crisci, ended up in prison for the crime of corruption with the aggravating circumstance of the mafia method. The facts would concern the assignment of cemetery niches in the municipality of Santa Maria a Vico, of which Crisci, a member of the Moderates, was deputy mayor and is currently an opposition municipal councilor.
The other precautionary measures also concern alleged members of local organized crime. The adoption of the precautionary measure occurred following the investigations, carried out by the aforementioned Territorial Department, directed and coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Naples, which demonstrated how, through extortionate and corrupt conduct, the suspects had obtained the assignment of chapels and cemetery niches from the municipality of S. Maria a Vico.
The restrictive measure carried out in the early hours of this morning concerned ND, 51 years old from S. Maria a Vico, and LC, 49 years old from S. Felice a Cancello, members close to the “MASSARO” Camorra clan. Together with the aforementioned individuals, Pasquale Crisci, current vice President of the Province of Caserta, was placed in custody in prison, as well as PG, 58 years old from S. Maria a Vico, PG, 44 years old from S. Maria a Vico, and DLC, 55 years old, originally from S. Maria a Vico and resident outside the Region.
The investigative activities have ascertained that, through the intimidating force of the clan, one of the above-mentioned individuals had obtained the assignment of a family chapel worth 44.000 euros extorted from the owner of the company awarded the contract for the expansion of the cemetery of S. Maria a Vico.
This family chapel, through the intervention of another individual with the same entrepreneur, also subject to a precautionary measure, and the complicity of a municipal employee and a municipal councilor, was subsequently assigned, on the basis of artfully produced documentation, to another individual, in exchange for a monetary compensation.
In this investigative context, further conduct was ascertained regarding the illicit sale of chapels and burial niches located in the cemetery of S. Maria a Vico which also involved the then concessionaire of cemetery services and another individual involved, the latter being the owner of 16 burial niches.
