A 48-year-old woman died in a road accident that occurred this morning along state road 18 at kilometre 95 in Capaccio Paestum, in Salerno.
According to an initial reconstruction, the woman was hit by a van while riding her bicycle to work, for reasons that will have to be ascertained. The driver of the vehicle stopped to provide assistance and to alert the emergency services.
When the 118 crew arrived on site, the woman, originally from Romania but resident in Capaccio Paestum, was already deceased. The investigations are entrusted to the Carabinieri of the Company of Agropoli, directed by Captain Fabiola Garello.
The prosecutor of the Salerno prosecutor's office has ordered an external examination of the body, which is under seizure. Traffic along the Ss 18 has slowed down in both directions.
