The seventh edition of the Ablativo Season, conceived and directed by Vincenzo Albano, continues.
There are two upcoming events scheduled in Salerno: “Celeste”, by Liberaimago, and “Spartacu strit viù”, by Teatro del Carro, will be performed respectively on Friday 10 February and Friday 24 February at 20.00:XNUMX pm at the Teatro Antonio Ghirelli.
“Celeste”, written and directed by Fabio Pisano, with Francesca Borriero, Roberto Ingenito and Daniele Marino, and with live sound suggestions by Francesco Santagata, will bring to mind the ruthless story of the black panther Celeste di Porto, a beautiful and fatal eighteen-year-old girl who, after the roundup of the Roman ghetto by the Germans led by Kappler, decides to become an informer. To sell the Jews. Her co-religionists. Thus begins a truly dark period for the Jews of the ghetto; those who were “greeted” with a wave of the hand by the woman who was recognized as one of the most beautiful girls in Rome, had no escape. For each “boss”, she earned five thousand lire. And it doesn’t matter if those who ended up in the hands of the black shirts were women, children or men. No. The “black panther” was indifferent to gender, to age. Only her family was to be spared. But her father could not bear this enormous weight on his conscience, and he gave himself up to the SS. Her brothers, including Angelo, who was so beloved, disowned her. Only her mother continued to love her.
“The story of Celeste di Porto – writes Fabio Pisano – […] represents a unicum, a facet totally different from the canonical points of view from which this sad historical event is told. Celeste […] evidently suffered the trigger of the classic “survival instinct” that pushed her to commit horrible acts against her people. Ruthless, yes, and this show has no claim to absolve her, but to narrate. To tell what she did, trying to imagine why, or invent it. Because some stories leave no trace, if not a writing on the wall of a prison cell. A writing engraved with a nail. And with all the anger of those who do not know”.
“Spartacu strit viù”, written by Francesco Gallelli and Luca Maria Michienzi, directed by Luca Maria Michienzi and starring Francesco Gallelli, is inspired by the political figure of Franco Nisticò, originally from a small town in the province of Catanzaro, Badolato, who, after having fought with all means for the improvement and modernization of the SS 106, to defend the rights of those who are forced to travel this road every day, loses his life at the end of a last rally held in Villa San Giovanni in December 2009.
A story, this one of “Spartacu Strit Viù”, where there are no characters, but universal stories, stories that unite the young and the old, the classics and the moderns, the past and the future. Life and death. On the road, the one that our Spartacu, contemporary incarnation of the ancient Thracian fighter/slave Spartacus, finds himself traveling every day to go and earn the little money he needs to hope to build a future and a family.
He knows that his destiny is tied to this daily journey, which he has been constantly making since he was a child, because he was born on this road and will fight for this road all his life. And so the story of the hero of the Roman era, who legend has it has accomplished wonderful feats right in Calabria, is intertwined with that of the man of today.
