The Rai production center in Naples is celebrating its 60th anniversary, but instead of looking back it is looking towards a future made of new productions and, above all, new investments in the shadow of Vesuvius that range from simple restoration to complete reconstruction, as hoped for by the governor of Campania Vincenzo De Luca who says he is ready to do his part.
The sixtieth anniversary of one of the most important Rai production centers in the country, founded on March 7, 1963, was celebrated during a press conference, attended by Rai board member Simona Agnes, the director of the production center Antonio Parlati, various Rai news directors and some of the characters of the fiction and variety shows produced in Naples: from Patrizio Rispo to Rosalia Porcaro, from Veronica Maya to the writer Maurizio De Giovanni, author of among others 'I bastardi di Pizzofalcone' and Inspector Ricciardi.
To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the center - explained the director of Radio Rai Roberto Sergio - several initiatives are in the pipeline, starting with the appointment with the purple channel No Name for Naples, a digital radio channel broadcast - with contempt for superstition - on Friday 17th from the auditorium in Naples.
An event reserved for young Neapolitan musicians led by rapper Clementino. And then Radio Live Napoli, which bases its programming on the archive of Neapolitan song and whose broadcasts will start on March 31. Testimonials two names known to the general public such as Renzo Arbore and Marisa Laurito.
Finally, a podcast that will tell stories of youth redemption through music, “Going to the territory – said Simona Agnes, member of the Rai Board of Directors – telling the stories of all Italians, is an essential vision of public service and we intend to carry it forward”. “Another 60 of these years”, Antonio Parlati hopes.
The mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi, recalled the move by the Municipality to make the Mostra d'Oltremare available during the months in which the production center will be affected by adaptation works to allow productions to continue in Naples.
Governor De Luca indicates two ways forward: either the construction of a radio-television hub from scratch in the former NATO base for a cost of 20 million. Or an investment of 10 million to rebuild the center from scratch. “I am in favor of doing it,” he said, addressing the Rai top brass, “the decision is up to you, but we need to act now before the resources for the South are raked in with acts of political delinquency, as is already happening.”
