"The Campania Regional Administrative Court has deemed the exclusion of one of the competitors in the tender for the additional 60 trains to be allocated to the Circumvesuviana legitimate. The ruling, issued in a very short time, also in consideration of the stringent terms foreseen for the awarding of contracts financed with resources of the PNRR, has allowed the opening of the envelope of the economic offer of the only competitor remaining in the tender (Stadler).
The contract will then be signed by the deadline of June 30, as set out in the funding source”. This was announced by Eav, the public transport company of the Campania Region, for which it is a “race against time that should end positively”.
"Stadler, which is already building the first 40 trains whose delivery begins in 2024, has been awarded the construction of the subsequent 60 trains. Of these 60 trains in the framework agreement - explains the Ente Autonomo Volturno -, 16 are already financed and delivery is scheduled to begin in 2025. For the other 44, we will proceed without further tenders as soon as the sources of financing have been identified.
Therefore, it is currently expected that 56 new trains on the Vesuviana will be delivered by Stadler between 2024 and 2026".
