The 19-year-old Emanuele Civita is under arrest on charges of attempted murder and illegal possession of a weapon in competition. The arrest was carried out by the Carabinieri Company of Castello di Cisterna and signed by the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Napoli – DDA .

According to the investigators' reconstruction, at around 23pm in Admiral Carlo Cattaneo Square of the Municipality of Sant'Anastasia, the same person together with another person in the process of being identified, riding a moving scooter, allegedly fired at least ten gunshots in the square where citizens and customers of some bars and ice cream shops were present.
The weapons used, a revolver and a machine gun, were first flaunted by the two youths with an aggressive attitude and then used in a subsequent passage on the scooter shooting towards the square.

Together with them there was also the 6 year old brother, who was unharmed because at the time of the shooting he was inside with some acquaintances of the family nucleus. The little boy did not witness the scene. He was entrusted by his father to the acquaintances with whom the family was having ice cream, and then he was picked up by an uncle who rushed to Sant'Anastasia to take care of the little boy.
The identification of the perpetrator of the crime was possible thanks to the immediate investigations of the military of the Arma, through the acquisition of the footage of various cameras present in the area and with the assumption of some witness information, activities carried out with the support of the Investigative Unit of Castello di Cisterna and the participation of the public prosecutor.
Following house searches carried out during the night, the young man was found to be absent from his home, and then handed himself in to the Carabinieri.
