“Once again we are witnessing a very serious event. Our solidarity and support goes to our colleague from ASL Napoli 1 Centro”. Gabriele Peperoni, vice president of the Single Union of Outpatient Medicine and Healthcare Professionals (SUMAI), says so. “It is essential that we review it as soon as possible – adds Peperoni – the Protocol between ASL Napoli 1, the judiciary and the police for emergencies and the management of patients who have committed crimes”.
Always at the forefront in denouncing the risks associated with the outpatient profession, SUMAI now asks that words be followed by actions. With a concrete commitment from the Institutions and Health Authorities to review procedures that are no longer useful to guarantee the safety of doctors, and even more evidently of outpatient specialists.
“Only chance ensured that this latest attack did not end in tragedy as it did in Perugia and that today we are not here to mourn the loss of another colleague,” concludes Peperoni.
